Food & Wine ventured out to Pokolbin and the newly-opened Bistro Artisan several weeks ago to meet the ambitious head chef and equally ambitious couple Stewart and Evelyn Smeed, who bought DenMar Estate and renamed it Red Door Collective.

The Smeeds had no prior experience in hospitality or winemaking. Evelyn was “working 18 hours a day” as a corporate banker in London and Stewart sold investment properties.”
