Valentine’s Day Crush
Ironbark Hill’s ‘Valentine’s Day Grape Crush’ was a great success, even though the fickle weather gods turned on rain aplenty. Only one week before, the valley was sweltering through 40+ degrees celsius, however Valentine’s Day was a cool 19 degrees and the skies grey and cloudy with a frequent rain shower.
Around 20 hardy souls, (family, friends and wine club members) took on the damp task of picking the front half-acre of Shiraz and then proceeded to crush the grapes in the time honored and traditional way – with their feet. This was then followed by a hearty champagne breakfast.
A great day was had by all, with many commenting that it should be an annual event.
