THE EVENT & INSPIRATION
The inspiration for the 1st Release Wine Week emanates from the success of France’s Beaujolais Nouveau Release, a festivity to mark the release of the first wine that can be sold the same year in which it was harvested.
In the Hunter Valley, September is the time when the current vintage Semillon and Rosé wines are ready for release as well as Reds and other Whites from previous vintages.
Unlike Beaujolais Nouveau, which promotes high volumes of a single varietal, Gamay, Around Hermitage’s 1st Release Week celebrates the release of small volume, single vineyard, quality wines produced from a range of different varietals.
It is an exciting time and we invite you to join us in the celebration of the release of these great wines.
During the 1st Release Wine Week you will be taken on an exploration of the wines produced in the Around Hermitage area by small single vineyard producers. See how the characteristics of the vineyard (and the owners!) flow through into the style of wines produced.

LOCATION
The Around Hermitage Wine and Food Trail is set in the north-western side of Pokolbin Hunter Valley. It has some of most highly rated wines and restaurants in the Valley, with the backdrop of the Brokenback Mountains.
The Mistletoe Lane area of Around Hermitage has been selected as the festival location, specifically at the Hunter Valley Resort along the eastern end of Mistletoe Lane with its wonderful vistas and featuring “The Farm”.
