Around Hermitage’s Wine, Food and Film Festival is in its third year! This year the festival will run over two distinct weekends, the first weekend of May and last weekend of June.
The first weekend will see the return of FLiCKERFEST at Peter Drayton’s IronBark Hill Brewhouse.
On the second weekend, following on from the success of the “Life of Brian”, the Around Hermitage team will be screen a unique film, produced entirely in the Hunter Valley, based on Australia’s first cookery book: “Cookery for the Many as well as for the Upper 10,000” published in 1864.
The Film Festival coincides with the Hunter Valley’s Wine and Food Festival, many events will be held in the area to enjoy over both weekends.

FLiCKERFEST is a short film festival that kicked off at Bondi Beach in January and is now travelling the country. For the second time, FLiCKERFEST is coming to the Hunter Valley.
The Around Hermitage Wine, Food and Film Festival will be screening the “Best of Australian” Short Films at Peter Drayton’s Ironbark Hill Brewhouse.
Join us for a fun evening of Wine, Food and Film.
Get there in good time to grab a bite to eat and enjoy some local wine, then sit back to watch the sunset over the vineyards before the film starts.
We will be screening the “Best of Australian” Short Film set. Each film runs for up to 20 minutes, approximately 7 films will be screened.

* Tasting of 3 local wines additional wine and beer will be available for purchase, 1 platter of food e.g. pizza, cheese plate.
Seating will be provided.
Transport to and from the event is provided by Two Fat Blokes Gourmet Tours at $15 pp for guests staying in the Around Hermitage area, a $5 pp surcharge for pickups from other POKOLBIN Hunter Valley accommodation payable on the night to the bus driver.

We take our “Hunter Valley Wine Country Diners Club” back in time to 1864, the year of the first Australian cookery, home entertaining and etiquette book was published. We visit historical Hunter Valley wineries, homes and towns, as we hunt, gather, travel, bake, boil, fry, smoke, dress and dine from the pages of “Cookery for the Many, as well as for the Upper Ten Thousand” by Tasmanian Aristologist” Edward Abbott.
5.30pm Arrive at Hunter’s Dream and head to the Cellar Door for canapes and tastings of wines from Around Hermitage producers
6.15pm Move into the iconic new Cellar Door for the screening of the Film which will run for approximately 90 minutes
8pm Enjoy a sumptuous meal with wines from Around Hermitage producers
The meal will be a reflection of recipes from the Cook Book.
Beers from Ironbark Hill Brewhouse will be on tap.
Along the Around Hermitage Wine and Food Trail, you’ll find lots of fun activities. How about a horse ride through the vines or experience the Wine Escape Room. Have a go at croquet at one of the cellar doors or even a game of giant chess! Hermitage Road’s dedicated cycleway is a great way to explore the area or jump on a tour.
A host of fun and engaging wine activities are on offer during the Hunter Valley Wine, Food and Film Festival including Vertical Wine Tastings, Aged Wine Tastings, New Releases.
There is a host of food experiences along the Around Hermitage Wine and Food Trail. Try chocolate and wine tasting, or cheese and wine matching experiences. Have a go at candy making or join in a cooking class.
