15 new events will be added to the 2018 Hunter Valley Wine & Food Festival this year, expanding the program of essential food and wine experiences held each year across the region during May and June. That’s more than 40 events this year, showcasing everything from breezy gourmet dinners curated by award-winning restaurants, wine and cocktail masterclasses, leisurely long lunches, food and wine trails, and hands-on cooking classes.

Returning favourites to the program will include Tyrrell’s popular Winemakers Luncheon, a Meet the Farmer dinner at Margan, the super popular Burning of the Barrel at Glandore Estate, and a By the Fireside session with Lisa McGuigan at Hunter Valley Resort. This should keep the regulars happy, alongside the brand new experiences like Viva Verdelho at Tulloch Wines, Magnum Madness at Hart & Hunter Cellar Door, Cheeses of the World at Two Fat Blokes, and Picnic in the Park at Kirkton Park Hotel.

A range of accommodation and experience packages have been released ahead of the festival to help visitors make the most of the festival, which is a two-hour drive north of Sydney.

One of our personal top picks this year will be the Hunter Valley Wine & Film Festival on both the 5th and 26th May. A program of films will be screened within the vineyards while guests sip on locally made find wines and enjoy gourmet food from local restaurants and providores. Don’t forget the Open Day at Keith Tulloch Wines either, set for Saturday 26th May where the famous winery is hosting games of croquet, live entertainment, tastings in the winery, and a bunch of other lawn games; nor should you overlook the Piggs Day Out on Saturday 2nd June – a massive event held on the beautiful grounds of Oaks Cyprus Lakes Resort with Piggs Peak winemaker Steve Langham hosting guests with a selection of his finest wines.
